Adansonia Hotel, hosted the award ceremony for Botswana
Unified Revenue Services (BURS) on the 01-November 2014. Bowdin et.al (2012)
state that an award is something given to a person, a group of people, or an
organization to recognize their excellence in a certain field; a certificate of
excellence. Awards are often signified by trophies, titles, certificates,
commemorative plaques, medals, badges, pins, or ribbons. Usually BURS unify and
design the award ceremony for their workers yearly, as a way of appreciating
their input towards achieving the business mandates. Basically the reflector
will concentrate only in one aspect which is incentive towards employees.
MOTIVATION
Herzberg (2003) state that workers motivation is the main
aspect in the achievement or failure of a business. Lacking motivated
personnel, efficiency, confidence, revenues, products and service delivered
suffers. To remain competitive business should capitalize in effective plans to
inspire workers. Organizing this kind of event it shows that BURS recognizes
and appreciate the impact of employees in their organizations because employees
were given certificate of best employee of the year and also cheques for bonus.
The perception that I got in that events it shows that there is a good
relationship between managers and their subordinates and truly this make an
organization to be more competitive in the market.
